Overview of FUSIONS RPMs

Each year, FUSIONS organises four Regional Platform Meetings (RPMs) and one European Platform Meeting (EPM), bringing together FUSIONS Members and other stakeholders across the food chain. This year’s third RPMs took place this spring in Oslo, Bologna, Paris and Budapest. A short summary of each meeting is provided.

Scandinavia

The Scandinavian Platform meeting was held in Oslo on 22^nd of April. The RPM was organised by FUSIONS Partners Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) and Ostfold Research, in collaboration with the Nordic Council and ForMat project Norway.

48 stakeholders participated in this year’s Nordic RPM which focused on food waste reduction through social innovation. Topics such as food redistribution in the Nordic region and quantification of food waste were addressed during the meeting by the keynote speakers. FUSIONS progress on social innovation feasibility studies was also presented by Partners.

Southern Europe

The 3^rd Regional Platform meeting for Southern Europe was held in Bologna on 22^nd of May and was organised by FUSIONS Partner Last Minute Market, in collaboration with University of Bologna (UniBo). In addition to providing an overview of FUSIONS’ progress, the meeting focused on the latest news on food waste research and presented examples of best practices and case studies from Italian and international stakeholders.

The 41 participants represented a good mix of enterprises and organisations, both from the private and public sector as well as from academia. Throughout the day, theoretical input and concrete examples on how to reduce food waste along the value chain facilitated discussion.

North West Europe

FUSIONS’ 3rd regional platform meeting in North-West Europe was held in Paris on 26^th of May 2015 and it was organised by FUSIONS Partner BIO by Deloitte. The meeting provided an overview of FUSIONS activities and progress and presented examples of best practices from French stakeholders.

The morning session was dedicated to food waste quantification aspects, whereas the afternoon was dedicated to the policy work within FUSIONS, respectively the Policy Evaluation Framework. The 34 stakeholders were consulted on both themes.

Central Europe, Budapest, 3 June 2015

The Central Europe RPM was organised in Budapest on June 3^rd by FUSIONS Partner UHOH, in collaboration with the Hungarian Foodbank Association. The 52 participants exchanged on food waste quantification, food waste policy and social innovation. The event was followed by an optional visit of the Hungarian food banks and by a Feeding the 5k awareness raising event.
