Last Minute Market

Last Minute Market Ltd. (LMM) is a spin-off company from the University of Bologna, evolving from research in the Faculty of Agriculture. The idea for setting up such a project resulted from analysis of the problem of food availability (food security) and its distribution. It has been running since 1998. Last Minute Market is a 360° Degree Action Against Waste, where shops and producers who have unsold food which would otherwise be discarded are linked with charities who need food. Our base is in Bologna and now 50 LMM projects are active in Italy in 13 Regions, with 2 new projects under development in Argentina and Brazil. In addition to material benefits, the initiative has an important educational significance in regard to issues like waste and consumption. Indeed the ultimate goal of Last Minute Market is to contribute to reducing waste in all its forms.
