IVL - Swedish Environmental Research Institute

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute is an independent research body, operated in the form of a limited non-profit company, owned by a foundation jointly established by the Swedish government and Swedish industry. The waste group has a broad competence working with definitions, waste flows and matters related to waste management. IVL also assesses policy instruments for waste management and provides the national government with information for decision making. IVL has during the last years been involved in several project related to food waste and food waste minimisation including the project “Initiatives on prevention of food waste in the retail and wholesale trades” financed by Nordic Council of ministers and “Waste minimisation in municipalities – a collection of good examples” financed by the Swedish EPA. IVL is also responsible for data collection regarding the food waste flow in Sweden.
